Hair Lead: Junya Nakashima using Mr. Smith

Presented on the 39th floor of a Manhattan skyscraper, and dramatically set against the New York City skyline. A fitting location for a Henry Zankov’s eponymous label SS27 debut and the first creative collaboration with Mr. Smith.

Hair direction by Junya Nakashima was equally sensual and edgy, with low ponytails, or hair left down. All expressions shared the same soft, lived-in texture and unforced sensuality.

“The inspiration comes from Jeanne Moreau; that effortless, intelligent, and rebellious spirit. We wanted that same attitude across all the hair, whether it was short, medium, or long. Some looks were pulled into graphic low ponytails, while others were left down, but we kept the same soft, lived-in texture and effortless sensuality throughout. Mr. Smith products helped us create the texture, body, and control while keeping everything natural and unforced.” Junya Nakashima.
